OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide support within areas of instability in order to prevent, mitigate, and resolve armed conflict.

HISTORY

World Aid was founded by Mark (Marcos) Blackard in 2008.  While working for the U.S. Government, Mark spent time in war-torn Iraq and was also involved with charity operations in several developing nations.  The initial focus was on providing basic needs support to homeless children.  Through funding from private donors, World Aid conducted charity operations in eastern Afghanistan for IDP's (internally displaced persons) and for Pakistani refugees fleeing fighting in the FATA's (Federally Administered Tribal Areas).  From lessons learned in Afghanistan we have taken on the greater role of conflict resolution to affect change in areas of armed conflict.

MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

Dear Friends,

Extreme poverty exists in the world today.  While we all have our share of problems in life, there are many children and families who do not have a place to call home.  They lack basic needs in life such as food, clothing, and shelter.  Many are exposed to armed conflict on a daily basis.  Education is far from the childrens' minds because they must focus on daily survival.  They lack any sense of security.

In developing nations, there is little government funding dedicated to helping these families.  They rely upon charitable organizations such as ours to help.  It is through donations from good people like you that permit us to provide aid.  I assure anyone who donates to our organization that the money will be spent efficiently toward the cause.  Our operating costs are minimal so that the majority of our funding reaches ground level.

Inspiration for my efforts derive from many sources.  One source in particular is Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.  This great leader fought for equality and humanity for all people, regardless of race, religion, or creed.  I carry on this tradition by offering support to people of any faith, race, or country of birth.  We appreciate donations from any person or entity as well.  A hungry child does not understand international politics, law, or religion.
